A lot of first time home buyers have been asking this question if I want to be in my new house by (Blank Date) when should I start looking. For me the answer to this question is it is never too early to get a pre-approval, starting to find the realtor that will help you find your new dream home, sell your current home, thinking about your wants and needs in your home. With websites like zillow.com and realtor.com people already know what kind of home they want, but it is important to know what kind of budget and payment you have when looking, some people end up falling in love with houses that end up being out of their budget after the pre-approval on the other hand sometimes people will sell themselves short and think they can only afford a house for a certain price but once pre-approved they can afford a much higher price. Houses in our DFW market do not stay on the market very long, but in general you want to start looking a month and half to two months before you want to close, so you can get out there and look at homes and find the perfect one for you. When looking you may find the perfect home for you too soon and you may think you're not ready but if you end up missing out on the house you may regret it. Each deal is different just because your friend looked at 20 homes before finding the perfect home for them does not mean it will take you that long, you could find your perfect home for you much sooner.
